Our Genealogy Trip to
the United Kingdom

Steve & Donna Myers
Janet & Gary Foster
|
Purpose of our Trip: Steve &
Donna Myers, Gary & Janet Foster went to visit Great Britain for three weeks
(March 4th to March 24th 2003) to see the homeland of each of our English
& Welsh ancestors.
Preparation for our Trip:
Each of us had researched our ancestry from the United States where we were born
to England. Steve wanted to go to Nottinghamshire & Donna to Wales.
Gary wanted to go to Yorkshire, Durham & Northumberland & Janet to the Pilling
area. We toured the ancestral home areas of each of our ancestors and
visited the sites they would have been most familiar with. We talked with
the local residents, ate typical English food and enjoyed the rainy weather and
overcast cloudy skies. We also came to England just at the end of their
Winter season and just before the normal tourist season began. We
followed the Rick Steves travel books and compared to the Frommers books.
Prior to coming to England we watched several videos about what to see in our
travels. We consulted several road maps and asked many questions of very
friendly and helpful people all over Britain, Scotland and Wales.
Enjoy our Photo Album of sites
we visited and enjoyed as American Tourists in the UK.
